Prices are per version and are not interchangeable, and neither are the reviews: conversions in this era were often built by a different studio than the original, so a score earned on one machine says nothing about how another plays.

The Sega Genesis version
A film-licensed brawler that is one of the dearer US carts, so check what you are paying for.
3 Ninjas Kick Back is a beat 'em up platform game based on the 1994 film, developed by Malibu Interactive. The Genesis version was published by Psygnosis, while the SNES and Sega CD versions went out under Sony Imagesoft. It came out only in North America, in 1994.

- Super NES. GamePro's reviewer called the Super NES version a below-average platform adventure with last-generation character graphics and sometimes troublesome controls, but praised the sound effects and two-player cooperative play.
Before you buy
Among US carts this is among the dearest, in the top few percent, and the risk tier is Medium, so check it carefully. Ask for a photo of the board and compare it with the board listed on this page. A Western Genesis cart has no notch in its shell, so a flat shell with a notch is a repro sign. The Sega CD release is a different version and should not be confused with the cartridge.

The Sega CD version
A film-licensed platformer with skateboard and hang-glider levels, sold only packaged with another disc.
This is the Sega CD version of 3 Ninjas Kick Back, developed by Malibu Interactive and published by Sony Imagesoft. It came out in North America on 28 February 1994, and only as a bundle with Hook, not on its own.
Electronic Games, reviewing the pairing, called it two mediocre titles for the price of one. One or two players take on the film's title characters in a mostly side-scrolling platform adventure, with first-person skateboarding and hang-gliding levels.

Before you buy
Because it shipped in a dual pack with Hook, check what a listing actually includes: the disc, the case and the second game. The disc is one of the pricier North American Sega CD games, above the middle, and loose copies sell infrequently. Confirm that the title printed on the disc matches the case.
