About Alisia Dragoon

The pace is intense. Enemies come at Alisia from everywhere. And nowhere. Battle hordes of crazed barbarians, mow down mobs of poisonous centipedes, and slay squadrons of winged gargoyels. Blast enemies in waves or one by one with multi-directional, auto-targeting laser fire. Recruit killer companions like the DragonFrye, Ball O'Fire, Thunder Raven and Boomerang Lizard. Use them to hurl blistering boomerangs, fireballs, and electrical attacks. With Alisia's super-tough fighting skills, fry enemies to a crisp. And prove once and for all that you can go hand-to-hand with evil and come out the champion!

A tough, inventive Game Arts platform shooter where Alisia is helped by animal companions, and a US cart that now costs real money.

Alisia Dragoon was developed by Game Arts and published by Sega. Alisia fires lightning from her hands and can summon four animal companions to fight alongside her, on a quest to avenge her father and save the world. It reached North America in March 1992, Japan on 24 April 1992 and the PAL territories in June 1992.

Mean Machines Sega rated it 87%, calling it an enjoyable and very original platform shoot 'em up with mythological overtones, with a huge playing area and plenty of secret screens. GamePro thought the responsive controls, hectic action and handsome graphics made it highly desirable for Genesis owners.

“game, with plenty to shoot and lots of features to keep the player hooked. A fresh approach to an old format.”

— MegaTech, September 1992

“What this boils down to is a multi-directional scrolling platform game, with plenty to shoot and lots of features to keep the player hooked. A fresh approach to an old format”

— MegaTech, January 1993

“Neat graphics, good sounds and challenging, addictive gameplay make Aiisia Dragoon a real winner, even more so now it's cheaper. Definitely worth a look.”

— MegaTech, May 1993

“The game is only a year old and hence a real pick of the budget bunch. It’s also the best dragon-based platform game around. Probably.”

— Mega, July 1993

Before you buy

Among US carts this is one of the pricier ones, and it is worth checking carefully. Compare a photo of the board with the board listed on this page. The European cart usually costs far less than the US one, which makes it the cheaper way in, while the Japanese cart usually costs noticeably more and has a different cartridge shape that fits a Western console only with an adapter or after removing two plastic tabs in its slot.
