About Awesome Golf
Awesome Golf is as the name suggests, a golf simulator. There are 3 courses to play: one in the U.K one in the U.S and the third one in Japan. The gameplay involves you lining up your shot via an overhead view which when set up switches to a third person view. Whilst in this view you need to swing the club and stop it at the desired power and then stop it on the correct symbol to get the perfect hit. If you don't get it right you will either miss the ball or hit the earth. There are 14 clubs at your disposal, 8 irons, 3 woods 2 wedges and a putter which are selected by moving the hand cursor over your Golf bag and selecting the desired club.

A four-player ComLynx golf sim that is genuinely one of the better uses of the link cable.
Hand Made Software built it and Atari published it in 1991. Golf is a turn-based game, which means four-player ComLynx works without four people needing to react simultaneously — it is one of the few link-cable setups on the platform that is pleasant rather than logistically absurd.
It is on the Evercade Atari Lynx Collection 1 cartridge, so you can try it without buying hardware.

Worth knowing
- Three 18-hole courses, and a zoomable map. Atari Advantage's 1992 review records American, English and Japanese courses, up to four named players, medal/practice/driving modes, a nine-or-eighteen hole choice and optional wind. Its standout feature was the Lynx's hardware zoom applied to the course map — hold the control pad with B to magnify any section of the hole.
- A cheat code, printed in Atari's own magazine. Start the game and enter your player name as LANDLORD. From then on, pressing Option 2 on any hole gives a perfect tee shot, with a further effect for tapping Option 2 while the ball is in flight. Published by Atari Explorer in 1992 — "a cheat that's sure to increase (er... decrease) your scores".
Before you buy
Remember the ComLynx rule: four players means four copies. At this price that is a cheap way to build a linked set. Low risk.
