About B.C.'s Quest for Tires
Cute Chick is in trouble! She is being held captive by the dinosaur, and it is up to Thor to ride his trusty wheel to the rescue. There are many obstacles in the way which Thor will need to jump and duck, including rocks, trees, rivers, lava pits, cliffs, and of course Fat Broad. When you duck, the character bounces up and down, so don't duck too soon. BC's Quest For Tires is a side scrolling action game resembling Moon Patrol in some ways, featuring characters from the comic strip BC.

B.C.'s Quest for Tires on Wikipedia
B.C.'s Quest for Tires is a horizontally scrolling video game designed by Rick Banks and Michael Bate and published by Sierra On-Line in 1983. Versions were released for the Commodore 64, IBM PC, Atari 8-bit computers, ColecoVision, ZX Spectrum, MSX, and Apple II. Based on the comic strip B.C. by Johnny Hart, BC's Quest for Tires is similar to Irem's Moon Patrol from the previous year. A wheel-riding caveman is always moving forward through horizontally scrolling levels, and the player jumps or ducks as obstacles approach. The game's title is a play on the contemporaneous film Quest for Fire.

A good-looking, fast-scrolling caveman jumper that period reviewers rated well, and an easy cart to buy loose.
Sierra published the ColecoVision cartridge in 1983. It is a horizontal-scrolling jump-and-duck game built on the Johnny Hart comic strip, in the mold of Moon Patrol. The credited developer is Sydney, and the game was a conversion of a computer title.
Electronic Games reviewed the ColecoVision version in July 1984 and singled out the speed control. The right-hand button speeds Thor up, which multiplies the points for each clean jump up to eight times, while the left button brakes. Hitting obstacles gets harder at speed, and the reviewer said the game offered more real action than many of its rivals. Wikipedia's award list also credits it with Video Game Update's ColecoVision Game of the Year.
What the press said at the time
| Computer Entertainer Vol. 2 No. 9 | December 1983 | Graphics ★★★★ · Play-Action ★★★★ |
“QUEST FOR TIRES is a delightfully original game with very well animated, cartoon-like graphics and excellent play action.”
“B.C.'s Quest For Tires offers much more real action appeal than many games of this genre. The characters are nicely rendered in colorful detail, and while the cartridge is a little sparse … with sound effects, the animation is top-quality”
Computer Entertainer rated graphics first and play action second, from four symbols (excellent) to one (poor) — diamonds through early 1987, stars after — comparing each game only with other games for the same system.
How the ColecoVision version differs
Video Game Update named the ColecoVision version its Colecovision Game of the Year.

- Atari 8-bit. On the Atari computer version you steer Thor with the joystick: pushing up jumps, pulling down ducks, and left and right set his speed. Electronic Games called it a polished gem.
Before you buy
Standard keypad controller, no overlay. Sierra used one box for several systems and marked the platform with a sticker, so check that the sticker names the ColecoVision and has not been peeled before paying a complete-in-box price; a boxed copy can be a ColecoVision cart paired with another system's box. The box and manual make up much of a complete copy's value, while a loose cart is cheap.
