A minor Data Age release, cheap loose and mostly for Data Age completists.

What the press said at the time

Computer Entertainer Vol. 1 No. 7October 1982Graphics ★★½ · Play-Action ★★½
Arcade Express Vol. 1 No. 8November 21, 19825/10
JoyStik Vol. 1 No. 3January 1983★

“The concept is unusual, and VCS owners who are fond of the under-utilized paddle controller may like this one.”

— Computer Entertainer, October 1982

“Bugs is a very good game for the Atari 2600. It's one of the initial offerings from Data Age,.”

— Videogaming Illustrated, April 1983

“This is not so much a bad game per se as much as one which is perceptibly behind the current state of the art for VCS-compatible cartridges. … This cartridge might have done well had it been released 12-18 months ago, but now it's just one out of many titles competing for the attention of consumers.”

— Arcade Express, November 21, 1982

“You must also contend with a smaller, crawly thing called a Phylax, which is annoyingly difficult to destroy. Mediocre game-play and dull graphics mess up what could have been an entertaining game.”

— JoyStik, January 1983

Computer Entertainer rated graphics first and play action second, from four symbols (excellent) to one (poor) — stars in most years, diamonds in 1986–87 — comparing each game only with other games for the same system. JoyStik’s capsule ratings run from one star to five.
