A Genesis sequel to Taito's arcade pursuit game that is more varied than the original, and now one of the pricier US carts.

Chase H.Q. II is Taito's sequel, developed by I.T.L for the Genesis and released in Japan as Super H.Q. on 23 October 1992 and in North America in February 1993. Electronic Games previewed it as keeping the visual perspective of the first Chase H.Q. but with more variety in play, including the chance to put more than one car through the crash-and-bang pursuits.

What the press said at the time

“In the short term it’s fun and hard, but after a few plays you’ll crack it wide open.”

— Mega, July 1993

Before you buy

Among US carts it is one of the pricier ones, well above the middle, and the Japanese cart (Super H.Q.) usually costs about twice as much and has a different cartridge shape. It is worth enough that you should ask for a photo of the board before paying, and a Western Genesis cart has no notch in its shell, so a flat Western-style shell with a notch is a sign of a repro.
