A challenging first-person oddity on the Genesis that is cheap and a bit of a curiosity.

On the Genesis this game is called Corporation, and it was released in North America as Cyber-Cop. It is a Core Design game published by Virgin Games, and it was ported to the Genesis from computer versions. You play a spy working for an agency called ZODIAC, sent to infiltrate a corporation building and expose its illegal activity after one of its experiments escapes into London. It came out in North America in June 1992 and in Europe in October 1992.

Mean Machines called it a very challenging game with many levels that should appeal to most Mega Drive players, although it found the sound effects flat and uninspiring.

“But if you don’t fall into that category and are after something that’s different, intriguing and packs a load of long-lasting gameplay, this should be checked out as soon as it’s available.”

— Mean Machines, May 1992

“A highly original 3D espionage game, casting you as a secret agent out to expose corruption in the all-powerful Corporation. This is a high quality, atmos pheric role-playing adventure game. Recommended.”

— Mean Machines Sega, December 1992

“A huge 3D adventure with a bit of shooting 'em up, in which you have to get past the security robots in a high-tech office building. Good graphics and unusual and absorbing gameplay. Doesn't quite achieve it's potential because some of the best ideas in the game aren't used quite as well as they might have been.”

— MegaTech, May 1993

“Good graphics and unusual and absorbing gameplay. … Doesn't quite achieve it's potential because some of the best ideas in the game aren't used that well.”

— MegaTech, November 1993

How the Sega Genesis version differs

Mean Machines Sega scored the Mega Drive version 86%, calling it a high quality, atmospheric role-playing adventure.

Before you buy

Among US carts it sits about at the middle. The European Corporation cart usually costs noticeably less than the US Cyber-Cop cart, loose and complete. Check which title a listing uses when comparing prices. A complete US copy means the case, cartridge and manual.
