About Dynamite Düx

Side-scrolling beat 'em ups in which you must rescue a trapped female friend are nothing unusual. Where this one stands out, however, is the setting of your character as a duck called Bin, and with motion having a clear waddling appearance. The enemies to fight are all from the animal kingdom, but somewhat warped - crocodiles with boxing moves and cows armed with rocket packs for example. Bin has six levels to clear before he can rescue Lucy from Archaca's clutches.

A cheerful, cartoon-styled arcade beat 'em up that the Master System handles with charm.

Dynamite Düx started as a 1988 Sega arcade beat 'em up on the Sega System 16 board, the same board used for Golden Axe and Altered Beast. In the arcade game two ducks, Bin and Pin, set out to rescue a girl named Lucy from the sorcerer Achacha. Whiteboard developed the Master System version for Sega, and it came out in Europe in January 1990.

Julian Rignall gave the Master System port a positive review in Computer and Video Games. The arcade game was praised for its delightful graphics and its sheer silliness.

“The graphics on this wild 'n' wacky duck-based beat 'em up are truly superb, with bazooka-carrying foxes, marauding moose heads and gangs of field mice all entering the fray. The gameplay is fun, but it's all a little too easy, so expert gamers won't get full value for money from it.”

— Mean Machines Sega, December 1992

“A cute and colourful arcade beat-’em-up that is very addictive and challenging.”

— Sega Pro, December 1993

“A cute and colourful arcade beat-’em-up that is very addictive and challenging. The dodgy scrolling occasionally affects plav, but overall iťs a lot of tun to play.”

— Sega Pro, December 1993

How the Sega Master System version differs

Compared with the arcade game, the sprites are smaller and different, with noticeably fewer frames of animation, and many of the enemies' unique dying animations were cut or altered.

There are fewer weapons and power-ups per level than in the arcade game, and fewer enemies too.

The story is altered and two-player mode is removed. Bin is Mickael, Lucy's boyfriend, turned into a duck by Achacha, and Pin does not appear.
