An ordinary-looking maze game whose maze generator turned into an academic puzzle.
Entombed is a 1983 maze game developed by Western Technologies and published by U.S. Games. You move through a maze while avoiding enemies, alone or with a second player.
Its reputation rests on how the maze is built. The algorithm that generates it has puzzled people enough to attract academic study.
How it was made
Steven Sidley programmed it. Credits for the design differ: Tom Sloper is named as designer in some sources, and Paul Allen Newell alongside Sidley in others. U.S. Games released it in March 1983.
