A competent, inexpensive boxing game from Atari's late catalogue, with little documented about it.

Fight Night began as a 1985 boxing game from Sydney Development Corporation, published by Accolade for the Apple II, the Atari 8-bit computers and the Commodore 64. Imagineering developed the 7800 version, which Atari Corporation published for one or two players.

The 7800 cartridge supports two players, and no more is documented about how it differs from the computer versions.

How the Atari 7800 version differs

The 7800 version arrived in 1988, after Atari Corporation put the Atari 8-bit game on cartridge in 1987 for the XE Game System.

Worth knowing

  • From the 7800 manual. Four events including Training and Sparring Match; one is a player-vs-player event.

Before you buy

Rated scarce but priced low, and a box adds little. It uses the Pro-Line joystick, and the second player needs another stick. Atari color label, catalog number CX7851. No counterfeits are documented. Buy it as a cheap filler; test both players' controls on a two-player cart before paying.
