A 1982 Gammation mail-order cartridge with one known original copy, so almost anything offered is the 2010 run or a reproduction.

Gamma-Attack was developed by Robert L. Esken Jr. and published by Gammation in December 1982 as a limited mail-order release. Only one original copy is reported to be known, a status recorded by Guinness.

In 2010 the programmer issued 100 signed reproductions himself. Those are legitimate collectibles in their own right, but they are not 1982 originals, and the priced Gamma-Attack on the market is that 2010 run.

How it was made

Worth knowing

  • One known copy. Only one original Gamma-Attack cartridge is reported to be known, a status recorded by Guinness. Its programmer later made 100 signed reproductions in 2010.

Before you buy

High risk. With one known original, any copy offered as a 1982 original is almost certainly the programmer's 2010 signed run or an unofficial reproduction. Reproductions of Gamma-Attack were documented being sold alongside a faked Red Sea Crossing in 2015. If you want the 2010 signed run, check for the signature and buy it as what it is. One AtariAge collector reports that the genuine original has an EPROM board and a straight-edged paper label, so those features do not prove a copy is fake or real here; that claim rests on a single forum post. A claimed original needs documented provenance, not just photos.
