About Generations Lost

Generations Lost is a platform action game in which the player takes the role of Monobe, an adventurer on the search for the past of his people. Thanks to his magic armour Monobe is able to execute many different moves. Besides running and jumping, Monobe can roll on the ground, deliver blows with hands and feet, and shoot energy balls. With the help of an energy rope Monobe can swing from platform to platform. Most of the time, Monobe has to solve several puzzles, find secret switches and survive deadly traps. The game is split into six areas which can be accessed via the "Magic Box" teleporter.

A moody, cinematic Genesis platformer with an odd story, and a cart priced above the middle.

Generations Lost is a platformer developed by Pacific Softscape and published by Time Warner Interactive for the Genesis. Europe got it in November 1994 and North America in December 1994. Designer Bruce Straley has described it as a clone of X-Men, a 1993 Genesis game that he and other Pacific Softscape staff had worked on, made after the studio could not secure the rights to the X-Men license for a sequel.

Electronic Games called it a beautiful side-scroller, despite a Byzantine back-story, with just enough strategic options to balance the action. Other reviewers complained of somewhat imprecise controls and choppy scrolling but said it should appeal to anyone who liked Out of This World.

Before you buy

Among US carts it sits above the middle. The European cart usually costs more than the US one, and a complete European copy costs noticeably more. A complete US copy means the case, cartridge and manual.
