Prices are per version and are not interchangeable, and neither are the reviews: conversions in this era were often built by a different studio than the original, so a score earned on one machine says nothing about how another plays.

The Sega Genesis version
A deep Koei strategy game on the Genesis, priced above the middle among US carts and worth a save check.
Genghis Khan II: Clan of the Gray Wolf is a Koei strategy game. Koei developed and published it. The Genesis version came out in Japan in March 1993 as Aoki Okami to Shiroki Mejika: Genchou Hishi and in North America in December 1993. The game also appeared on several other systems.
Game Players, reviewing the Genesis game, said the aim is to unify Europe and Asia against the computer or a friend in one of four scenarios, and called it complex but rewarding.
How the Sega Genesis version differs
Game Players described the Genesis game as a complex but rewarding epic in which you unify Europe and Asia in one of four scenarios, against the computer or a friend.

- Super NES. Electronic Games scored the Super NES version 83% in 1993, calling it one of the most challenging and detailed military simulations ever put in a cartridge.
- MS-DOS. Computer Gaming World rated the PC version four stars out of five in 1994 for its strong, non-cheating AI and easy-to-learn play.
- Super NES. The Super NES version was made available on the Wii Virtual Console in North America on June 8, 2009.
Before you buy
Among US carts it sits above the median. The Japanese cart usually costs about the same loose and less complete, and its cartridge is a different shape from a Western one. The cartridge saves to a battery inside it for some modes, so test that a save holds; a replaced battery is a normal repair and not a sign of a fake. It is a cheap-tier game with no per-game fake concerns.
