A split-screen bike racer that Mean Machines Sega called one of the saddest road racers on the system.

GP Rider is the Master System port of Sega's 1990 arcade motorcycle racer, released in Europe in 1993. The Master System version is played in split-screen mode whether one or two people are playing.

Mean Machines Sega, reviewing it in issue 9, was harsh. It said the gameplay bears very little resemblance to real racing or the arcade original, called it easy to complete, criticized the animation and the engine noise and music, and ranked it among the saddest road racers on the Master System.

“Overall, GP Rider's quite a poor effort, I’m afraid. The graphics are basic, the sound’s diabolical and gameplay’s seriously lacking. If you want to play a decent bike game, you’re better off playing the relevant sections of Out Run Europa.”

— Sega Master Force, September 1993

“The riding stakes may be high, but the flickery sprites and poor graphics let GP Rideróown. There’s little variety between races and an annoying control method.”

— Sega Pro, September 1993

“The riding stakes may be high, but the flickery sprites and poor graphics let GP Rider down. There's little variety between races and an annoying control method.”

— Sega Pro, October 1993

“Split screen views, one or two player modes and multiple options fail to make this a worthy title.”

— Sega Master Force, November 1993
