Parker Brothers' 1984 James Bond shooter, a franchise collectible more than a standout game.

James Bond 007 is a horizontally scrolling shooter that Parker Brothers published in 1984 for the Atari 2600 and several other systems. The 2600 cartridge was developed by On Time Software.

It is credited as the first James Bond video game to get a worldwide release, which gives it a place in Bond collections. Little else is documented specifically about the 2600 version.

What the press said at the time

Computer Entertainer Vol. 3 No. 2May 1984Graphics ★★½ · Play-Action ★★★

“This game is much too difficult for neophytes, even at the Novice Level, but experienced gamers will relish the challenge. There's more than enough variety in the sequence of three different missions to keep the player interested.”

— Computer Entertainer, May 1984

Computer Entertainer rated graphics first and play action second, from four symbols (excellent) to one (poor) — stars in most years, diamonds in 1986–87 — comparing each game only with other games for the same system.
