One of the Genesis's best action RPGs, and a pricey cart in the US and Europe.

Climax Entertainment developed this isometric action RPG and Sega published it. You play the treasure hunter Nigel, exploring and solving puzzles. It reached Japan on 30 October 1992, North America in October 1993 and Europe in November 1993.

In Japan it was a major seller for the Mega Drive, with 34,385 copies sold in its first week. Mega placed it fifth in its list of the best Mega Drive games, and GameFan's Megawards named it Best Action/RPG.

“Nobody loves a great RPG more than me. The detail work of this game is truly fantastic.”

— Game Informer, November/December 1993

“All the usual baddies to fight and puzzles to solve are present, but they're presented in such fine detail that there's never any real feeling of deja-vu. A blinding RPG, and well worth a go.”

— MegaTech, January 1994

“The Megadrive's answer to Nintendo's Zelda series, and an excellent graphic RPG it is too. Loads to explore, a brilliant storyline, and loads of other stuff - it's excellent.b”

— MegaTech, February 1994

“The Mega Drive's answer to Nintendo's Zelda series, and an excellent graphic RPG it is too. Loads to explore, a brilliant story-line and loads of other stuff - basically it's excellent.”

— MegaTech, March 1994

Before you buy

Among US carts this sits well above the median. The European cart usually costs more than the US one, loose and complete, while the Japanese Mega Drive cart usually costs far less and has a different cartridge shape. The cartridge saves to a battery inside it, so test that a save holds; a replaced battery is a normal repair and not a sign of a fake. A complete US copy means the case, cartridge and manual.
