A handsome Shadow of the Beast-style adventure that is better than its obscurity suggests, but a pricier US cart.

The Genesis cartridge is titled Galahad (The Legend of Galahad in Europe), a port of Traveller's Tales' first game, the Amiga title Leander. Electronic Arts published it on the Genesis in North America in 1992 and in Europe on 21 October 1992.

Mean Machines Sega called it an excellent arcade adventure in the mould of Shadow of the Beast, with excellent graphics, stomping sound and plenty of levels. Mean Machines noted that Galahad starts with feeble equipment and has to buy better weapons and armor in shops along the way, with cash from chests and enemies.

“Galahad is a quality quest. Great graphics, prolific levels, and tough villains will occupy your adventurous spirit for many moons.”

— GamePro, January 1993

“An excellent arcade adventure in the mould of Shadow of the Beast, Galahad is blessed with excel lent graphics and stomping sound. The gameplay is great too, with plenty to do and loads of levels to conquer. A very lastable Megadrive title.”

— Mean Machines Sega, December 1992

“Known as Leander on the Amiga, Galahad loses nothing on the conversion. Rescue maidens and King Arthur’s treasure. Large levels and loads of bad guys.”

— Mega, January 1993

“Known as Leander. Rescue maidens and King Arthur’s treasure. Large levels and loads of bad guys.”

— Mega, May 1993

How the Sega Genesis version differs

Before you buy

Among US carts it sits above the middle. The European cart usually costs noticeably less than the US one, both loose and complete. A complete US copy means the case, cartridge and manual. Look under the Galahad title, as well as Leander.
