A Brazil-only Master System edition of a Mickey platformer, and the cart with the one fully documented fake.

Legend of Illusion Starring Mickey Mouse was developed by Aspect and released for the Game Gear in 1995. Tec Toy published the Master System version in Brazil in December 1998, and it came out nowhere else. Unlike the other two Illusion games on the Master System and Game Gear, Mickey does not bounce on enemies; he throws bars of soap and, later, rocks.

It is a Disney platformer for players who want a late Brazilian Tec Toy release.

  • Game Gear. Reviewing the 1995 Game Gear version, GamePro praised the "Disney quality" graphics and judged it worth playing, while mildly criticizing the sound and lack of challenge.

Before you buy

This is the Brazilian Tec Toy cartridge. It is documented as the one Master System game sold as an original that turned out to be a fake: a buyer's copy proved to be a donor Tec Toy board carrying a hand-soldered EPROM with a 2010 date code, plus a reprinted label and cover. So the look-alike risk here is medium. Ask the seller for photos of the board, and treat an EPROM instead of an MPR mask ROM, or a date code from long after 1998, as the warning sign. Compare the print quality of the label and cover with a known copy.
