Prices are per version and are not interchangeable, and neither are the reviews: conversions in this era were often built by a different studio than the original, so a score earned on one machine says nothing about how another plays.

The Sega Genesis version
A Wild West light-gun shooter that only makes sense with a Justifier, and one where the European cart costs more.
This is the Genesis version of Lethal Enforcers II: Gun Fighters, Konami's light-gun game, which moves the first game's police shooting to the Old West. North America got it in October 1994 and Europe in December 1994. Your accuracy in each stage sets a rank that runs from Posse up to U.S. Marshal.
Reviewers were largely positive about the weapons, the two-player mode and the Justifier gun itself. GamePro praised the variety of weapons and the build and accuracy of the Justifier, which it felt worked better here than with the first game. Electronic Games was less taken, saying the trick did not wear as well the second time around.
What the press said at the time
| Electronic Gaming Monthly Issue 63 | October 1994 | 7, 6, 5, 6, 7 |
“This sequel is a little more difficult than the first one, with challenging Bosses and plenty of different weapons.”
“To sum things up then, I liked this game. With a light gun iťs brilliant; without one iťs still an above-average blast.”
“This western shooter is cool, but probably just because the light gun, which is named the Justifier, is so damn accurate!”
“In contrast Gunfighters will be a blast from start to finish. It contains six levels of frantic shoot-’em-up action, in the same mouid as its predecessor Lethal Enforcers.”
Electronic Gaming Monthly's average rating is the mean of its Review Crew's scores, each given on a 1 to 10 scale "in relation to other titles available for the same system."
How the Sega Genesis version differs
On the Genesis and Sega CD ports, the stage accuracy percentage sets the player's rank, from Posse below 60% up to U.S. Marshal at 90% or above.
Electronic Games felt the Genesis sequel's light-gun trick did not wear as well a second time around.
Game Players called the Justifier light gun the real star of the Genesis shoot-'em-up, praising its accuracy.

Before you buy
Sega Retro lists the Justifier light gun as required, so you need one to play it. Among US carts the game sits above the middle. The European cart usually costs considerably more than the US one, and a complete European copy costs well over double. A complete US copy means the case, cartridge and manual.

The Sega CD version
The Wild West sequel is a harder shoot-out that sounds better than the cartridge, with little else to separate the two.
This is the Sega CD version of Lethal Enforcers II: Gun Fighters, Konami's follow-up that trades modern policing for the Old West. It came out in North America in November 1994, in Europe in December 1994 and in Japan, as Lethal Enforcers 2: The Western, on 25 November 1994.
GamePro found the Sega CD game generally identical to the Genesis version apart from more voices. Electronic Gaming Monthly, reviewing the Sega CD game in its 65th issue, said it had better sound and music than the Genesis game, but that it was a lot harder than the first Lethal Enforcers.
What the press said at the time
| Next Generation Premiere Issue | January 1995 | ★★★ |
| Sega Pro Issue 43 | April 1995 | 87% |
“Reeling off infra-red bullets at the TV from your plastic blue six shooter is a great laugh. You really get into the whole gun-slinging role.”
“but it’s more challenging, since many more of the targets move this time. If you liked it once, you'll like it again.”
“An enhanced CD version of the excellent shoot-out sequel, played with light gun or joypad.”

Before you buy
The US disc is cheap, below the middle among North American Sega CD games, while the European disc usually costs a good deal more, loose and especially complete. A complete Japanese copy usually costs about the same as a complete US one. The US disc suits a North American Sega CD, the European disc a European Mega-CD and a Japanese disc a Japanese Mega-CD. A real disc has its label printed on it and a title and catalogue number that match the case.
