About Liberty or Death
The European Wars against Spain and France have been costly to the British Empire. In order to gain additional funds for the war effort, the Crown raise taxes from the New World colonies without representation. This act compels the New World colonies to protest and boycott against British rule. By 1775, the Crown alarmed by the protests, boycotts and politically instability in the New World sends troops to subdue any rebellious efforts by the New World colonists. This threatening approach provokes the Thirteen Colonies to revolt. Thus starts the War for Independence in the New World (American Revolutionary War).

A Koei hex-grid wargame about the American Revolution, aimed at strategy fans and priced above most US carts.
Liberty or Death is a turn-based strategy game from Koei, part of its Historical Simulation Series, in which you fight the American Revolution. This is the Genesis version, released in North America in 1994. Electronic Games previewed it as an historical look at warfare with three difficulty levels and battles on a traditional hex-grid map, with the Genesis edition due a month after the Super NES one.
How the Sega Genesis version differs
The Genesis edition arrived a month after the Super NES cart, in June 1994.
GamePro's Bro Buzz called the Genesis version exactly like the Super NES version, but criticized its interface: players study changing numbers rather than watching exciting graphics.

- Super NES. GamePro's Andromeda praised the Super NES version's historical accuracy but was reluctant to recommend it because of the excessive minutiae of the gameplay.
Before you buy
Among US carts this sits well above the middle. It saves to a battery inside the cartridge, so make sure a save holds; a replaced battery is a normal repair, not a sign of a fake. A complete US copy means the case, cartridge and manual.
