A Japan-only quiz cart built on a children's manga license, for readers of Japanese and for collectors of the late-SNK shelf.

Chibi Maruko-chan: Maruko Deluxe Quiz is a quiz game based on Momoko Sakura's manga about a girl called Maruko and her family in a small Shizuoka town in 1974. Be Top developed it, with SNK and Takara credited as publishers. It appeared in the arcade first and then on the Japanese AES in January 1996; there was no Neo Geo CD release.

As with other quiz carts, the questions and answers are the game, so it is for players who read Japanese. It is also a curiosity among AES titles, since the license is a manga property rather than one of SNK's own series.

Before you buy

Only the Japanese cart exists, and it sells for a lot more complete than loose, with sealed copies far higher still, so much of the price is the box. At that level, ask for photos of the board before paying; genuine AES boards are marked NEO-AEG and have gold-plated edge fingers, and the documented fraud is an MVS board in an AES shell. Check that the case, artwork and manual are present, and don't expect to enjoy it without Japanese.
