A fast, move-rich fighting game that Mean Machines Sega hailed as the Master System's answer to Street Fighter, and it now sells for serious money.

Masters of Combat is a one-on-one fighting game published by Sega and developed by SIMS, released in Europe on March 10, 1994.

Mean Machines Sega reviewed it as the decent Street Fighter-style game Master System owners had been waiting for after a poor effort like Pitfighter. It praised the characters, the animation and an imaginative, vast range of moves, including kicks, throws and mystical attacks, along with its speed and computer opponents worth respecting. Later in the magazine's reader pages it recommended the game as one of the better two-player picks for the system.

Before you buy

This is a European cartridge. It sits near the top of the PAL-only group when loose, and a complete copy costs far more than a loose cart, so the box and manual are the big decision. For a copy at this price, ask for a photo of the board and compare it with the board listed on this page.
