A big, hard mech combat game that was sold on the Genesis as BattleTech.

This is the Genesis version, released in North America in September 1994 under the title BattleTech. Malibu Interactive developed it and Extreme Entertainment Group published it. It was the first BattleTech game on the Genesis, and the Super NES port that followed was called MechWarrior 3050.

Electronic Gaming Monthly's reviewers found the single-player game so difficult as to be nearly inaccessible, but most still recommended it for its variety of missions and its challenge.

What the press said at the time

“Mech is particularly lifelike as it strides along, rocking from side to side and raising plumes of dust or leaving tracks in the snow.”
— GamePro, October 1994

Before you buy

Among US carts it sits above the middle. Look for the Genesis cartridge titled BattleTech, since the MechWarrior 3050 name belongs to the Super NES version.
