A well-reviewed Factor 5 run-and-gun, and one of the priciest US carts.
Mega Turrican is a run-and-gun game developed by Factor 5. Data East published it in North America in March 1994 and Sony Electronic Publishing in Europe in November 1994. The Amiga game Turrican 3 was converted from it. The Mega Drive version sat without a publisher from spring 1993 until Data East took over its distribution.
Electronic Games thought the graphics well produced and varied, with underwater sequences, factory landscapes and plenty of hidden lives, diamonds and power-ups. GameFan called it an instant classic with beautiful backgrounds and great music, and said it would challenge even the most experienced gamer.

How the Sega Genesis version differs
Factor 5 completely redesigned the game for the Mega Drive after the Amiga market declined, co-developing it with members of Kaiko.
The Mega Drive version stayed unreleased from spring 1993 until 1994, when Data East took over its worldwide distribution.
Electronic Games noted SNES-style special effects such as real-time rotation and 3-D zoom, plus huge boss sprites.
