About Memories Off Pure

Memories Off: Pure is a prequel to Memories Off. The events of the game take place three years before those of the previous game, when the protagonist Tomoya Mikami was still attending middle school. The game primarily revolves around his relationships with his childhood friend Yue Imasaka and Ayaka Hizuki, whose tragic fate is mentioned in the first game. Gameplay-wise, the prequel is identical to the preceding game, with the gameplay being reduced to occasional decision-making that influences the course of the story and ultimately leads it to different endings.

KID's flagship visual-novel series in handheld form — a reading game, start to finish.

A handheld entry in KID's Memories Off series, released in Japan in April 2000. Like Infinity Cure it is priced by scarcity and by the series' following rather than by anything handheld-specific about it.

Visual novels were a substantial genre on Japanese handhelds and essentially absent from Western ones, which is part of why the Japan-only half of this library looks so unfamiliar.

Before you buy

Entirely Japanese text. It saves to the cartridge, which matters more here than usual — a dead save battery on a game measured in hours of reading means starting the story again.
