A one-on-one Power Rangers fighter on the Genesis, priced below the middle among US carts.

This is the Genesis version of Mighty Morphin Power Rangers. It was developed by Nova and published by Sega, and it came out in North America in 1994 and in Europe in December 1994. It is a one-on-one fighting game. It has a Scenario Mode against computer opponents and a two-player Battle Mode. Defeating the Green Ranger and the Dragonzord unlocks them as playable fighters.

What the press said at the time

“If you’re a fan of the TV show (and what four to six year old isn’t), you’re really gonna love this action game.”

— Game Players, April 1995

How the Sega Genesis version differs

The Genesis version is a one-on-one fighting game with a Scenario Mode against CPU opponents, where each match ends with a giant version of the monster, and a two-player Battle Mode.

The Green Ranger is playable only on the Genesis and Game Gear versions; on Genesis he and the Dragonzord unlock after he is defeated.

Also on other platforms

Super NES · Game Boy · Game Gear

  • Super NES. The Super NES version is a side-scrolling action game with seven stages; Electronic Gaming Monthly's four reviewers rated it 7, 6, 6 and 7 out of 10.
  • Game Boy. The Game Boy version is a much simplified side-scroller with five levels, each with a ranger segment and a Megazord fight.
  • Game Gear. The Game Gear version has more levels and enemies than the Genesis version, with a story game, a vs. game and a two-player Link mode.

Before you buy

Among US carts it sits below the middle. The European loose cart usually costs somewhat more than the US one, while a complete European copy usually costs about the same. A cardboard-box release is priced separately from the plastic-case copy.
