About Mind Strike
What a romp! A mind-jolter that can be played slow, using alternating turns, or fast, with both players simultaneously hooked to the ultimate goal of conquering each other's CASTLE! Playing it slow, it's called MIND STRIKE, and requires quite a bit of strategic thinking. Playing it fast it's called SPEED STRIKE, and it's a dazzler that blends action with strategy! Choose up to 50 playing boards or design your own. Program the computer opponent's skill level (to your or his advantage). Engage in tantalizing confrontations. Combine your pieces for greater strength or split them apart to move farther. Make it as wild or as absorbing as your mind allows it to be!

A Mattel ECS strategy cart that is useless without the Computer Adapter.
Mind Strike was one of the first software titles for Mattel's Entertainment Computer System. Computer Entertainer's release schedule listed it for May 1983 alongside One-Player Baseball, and a later issue said the ECS would ship with software including Baseball, BASIC, Scooby Doo and Mind Strike.
Little period criticism of this cartridge survives in the sources, so there is no review to lean on.
Worth knowing
- From the Intellivision manual. Two games in one: turn-based Mind Strike (against a friend or the computer, Max) and Speed Strike, where both players move at once.
- From the Intellivision manual. You can pick from 50 built-in boards or design your own, and reprogram Max's strategy settings to make him weaker or smarter.
Before you buy
The ECS Computer Adapter is required. A complete Mattel copy has two keypad overlays. The cartridge is pricier than the typical Mattel game, but its box and manual add only a moderate premium.
