A straightforward board-game conversion, and a cheap cart.

Monopoly is the video-game version of the board game, developed by Sculptured Software and published by Parker Brothers. The Genesis cartridge came out in North America in 1992. Its music is by Nu Romantic Productions.

Sega Pro's preview said it would show animated graphics and a 3-D version of the board, with a multiplayer option against friends or the computer.

How the Sega Genesis version differs

Video Games & Computer Entertainment found the Genesis and Super NES versions virtually identical in game play and options, with the Super NES version having slightly better graphics and sound.

Among US carts it sits below the middle. A cardboard-box edition is priced separately, and a complete copy in it usually costs a little more than in the plastic case.
