A licensed junk-hunting adventure with good TV-show style but a lot of trial and error.

Radical Entertainment developed the Genesis version, published by Viacom New Media. It differs from the Super NES and Game Gear games, sharing only the premise of the pair searching for tickets to a Gwar concert. It reached North America in October 1994 and Europe on 14 August 1995.

GamePro said it suits gamers with both thumb speed and patience for a lengthy junk hunt to crack obscure puzzles. It praised the controls and a look faithful to the show, but disliked the trial and error.

What the press said at the time

Computer and Video Games Issue 161April 1995Graphics 81, Sound 82, Playability 71, Value 68

“The graphics are, well, graphic, but the overall visual style is right on with the flat, cartoony look of the TV show.”

— GamePro, November 1994

“Genesis version is the only one that is any fun. The Genesis version seems”

— Game Informer, December 1994

“DIa-hard anthuslasts may glaan soma antartainmant from tha antics of tha laad chaps (I did), but as a gams this falls flat.”

— Computer and Video Games, April 1995

“It does have good graphics and the sound is Okay. … Fans will probably want to check it out, others beware.”

— Electronic Gaming Monthly, October 1994

  • Super NES. GamePro called the Super NES version straightforward but uninspired, saying it doesn't suck but doesn't rule either.
  • Game Boy. The 1998 Game Boy version, from GT Interactive, drops the Gwar tie-in and has the boys trying to join Todd's gang.

Before you buy

Among US carts this sits above the median. The European cart usually costs nearly twice as much as the US one, loose and complete. A cardboard-box release is priced separately from the plastic-case copy, so check which one a listing really is. A complete US copy means the case, cartridge and manual.
