Wherever you go. Wherever you like. Its Kick Off Time! Easy! Simple! And Exciting! NeoGeo Cup '98 Plus is a soccer game for the Neo Geo Pocket. The game features single match play, head-to-head play (using a link cable), and story mode. You can choose to play one of 16 international teams. Each team has their own collective stats. On the field you can perform passes, shots, dribbles, slidings and charges. In the story mode you have to win as many matches as possible in a series of tournaments. Before and during matches you can change the field formations and switch players. Each won match gives you prize money, this can be used to buy items for your team. These items usually improve one stat, but decrease another.

Neo Geo Cup '98: The Road to the Victory is an association football video game based on the FIFA World Cup 1998, despite being released after the World Cup. It features 64 teams' countries. Each team enters a "Regional Qualifying Round Final" where it plays a team it actually played in the 1998 FIFA World Cup qualification. For example: Spain would face Yugoslavia, an opponent it actually faced in its qualifying group. Or Italy would face Russia, an opponent Italy faced in the UEFA play-offs. If the player beats the opponent, it goes to a group much like the real life World Cup. In fact, the team faces opponents that were actually in its group. For example: Mexico would face the Netherlands, Belgium and South Korea. It is a re-make of Super Sidekicks 3, but the animations and designs were exactly the same. The only difference is teams to reflect the World Cup, kits again to reflect the World Cup, and players to resemble squads from the World Cup. Its slogan is "We got the kick".

The Color remake of a monochrome launch game, and a better football game than its provenance suggests.
Neo Geo Cup '98 Plus began as one of the nine monochrome Neo Geo Pocket games in 1998 and was remade in colour for the new machine in 1999, arriving in the weeks after the North American retail launch. It is an arcade football game in the SNK tradition — fast, simple, and not remotely interested in simulation — and it holds up better than most sports games of its vintage.
It is on NEOGEO POCKET COLOR SELECTION Vol. 2 for the Nintendo Switch.
