A charming egg-guiding puzzler with a level editor that saves to the cartridge battery.
Penguin Land is a puzzle-platformer developed and published by Sega. It came out in Japan on August 18, 1987 as Doki Doki Penguin Land Uchu Daiboken, then in North America in January 1988 and Europe in October 1988. You guide a penguin and an egg past polar bears, rocks and other hazards across 50 stages, and a level editor can save up to 15 more levels to the cartridge's battery memory.
It is the second game in the Doki Doki Penguin Land series.
Before you buy
Three releases exist. The European and Japanese carts both cost more than the US one, and the gap is wider complete. The Japanese cart is a different, smaller shape and does not fit a Western console without an adapter. The US cart sits at about the typical price for its year. The game saves on a battery inside the cart, so check that the save holds. A replaced battery is a normal repair, not a sign of a fake.
