An overhead run-and-gun that Europeans bought as Secret Command and the Japanese bought as Ashura.

Rambo: First Blood Part II is an overhead run-and-gun game developed and published by Sega, loosely based on the 1985 film. It reached North America in December 1986 and was later re-released as a budget title in 1990. It supports up to two players at once.

Japan received it as Ashura in November 1986 without the Rambo license, and Europe got it as Secret Command in October 1987, which also lacked the license.

What the press said at the time

Sega Pro Issue 36September 199485%

“This is very close to the Capcom Commando coin-op; iťs even based in a jungle with huts and everything. Essential carnage.”

— Sega Pro, September 1994

Before you buy

Three versions exist: the US cart, the Japanese Ashura and the European Secret Command, so check which title is on the cart you are buying. The European cart costs much less than the US one, loose and complete. The Japanese cart costs more than the US one and is a different, smaller shape that does not fit a Western console without an adapter. The US loose price sits about in the middle of its group. Look for the manual in a complete copy.
