About Slam Dunk: Super Pro Basketball
At the time, this was the only sports game cartridge that let you own & manage your team. Selecting from a pool of 70 players, each with statistics taken from the actual NBA (and attributed with 'fake' names so as to avoid licensing issues), each player must manage salaries to stay under the salary cap. As player/owner, you run, pass, shoot, defend, and rebound. Keep an eye on your players - if they tire, they play more poorly. And keep an eye on the 24 second shot clock!

INTV's 1987 remake of Mattel's two-player basketball, with a computer opponent added so you can finally play alone.
Slam Dunk: Super Pro Basketball is the updated NBA Basketball, credited to Realtime Associates and APh and published by INTV Corporation. Where the Mattel original was a two-player-only game, this one added a computer opponent, the same treatment INTV gave Slap Shot, Super Pro Football and World Championship Baseball.
Computer Entertainer's schedules first had it due in the third quarter of 1987 and still listed it as upcoming in December, so it shipped late in the year. The magazine promised a review in a later issue.

Before you buy
INTV Corporation shipped no overlays with Slam Dunk, so overlays are reprints. Steve Huston did the Super Pro sports covers. Loose copies are moderately priced, and a boxed copy costs substantially more. The older NBA Basketball is the two-player-only version and plays differently.
