About Stunt Man

Stuntman is broken down into three timed stages. The first stage has the stuntman climbing ropes in order to get to a helicopter while also dodging flying birds. The second stage has the stuntman climbing ropes again but now arms him with a sword and requires him to defeat the flying devilfaces before he can make his escape. The third stage has the stuntman climbing ropes again dodging enemies, but he must also grab a hold of all of the balloons on the stage before he make his getaway. The stages then repeat in this order two more times with the later stages increasing the challenge by adding more enemies. After completing the nine stages, the game repeats at the next highest speed level. There are six speed levels in total and the desired speed level may be chosen from the beginning also.

What the press said at the time

Computer Entertainer Vol. 2 No. 11February 1984Graphics ★★ · Play-Action ★★

“STUNTMAN is not really a bad game, particularly if it can be found at a very low price. … This one won't set experienced gamers' hearts a-flutter, but neophytes may enjoy it.”

— Computer Entertainer, February 1984

“The graphics are pretty flat here, but the real problem with a potentially amusing game is its play quality, which is decidedly poor.”

— Electronic Games, March 1984

Computer Entertainer rated graphics first and play action second, from four symbols (excellent) to one (poor) — stars in most years, diamonds in 1986–87 — comparing each game only with other games for the same system.

Before you buy

Medium risk. Check which title is on the label, since one game was sold under several names, and make sure the photos match the listing. No fakes are documented. The box and manual carry much of a complete copy's value, so check that both are present.
