A late arrival for the 7800 that is cheap loose and worth buying boxed only if you need the package.

Super Huey UH-IX is a helicopter game that began on computers in 1985, and Atari Corporation published the 7800 version in 1989. Computer Entertainer's December 1987 release list had it penciled in for the fourth quarter of that year, so it arrived well after it was first scheduled.

Not much else is documented about this cartridge, and no period review of the 7800 version was found. Treat it as a one-player flight game that is easy to find.

How it was made

Atari Corporation is both developer and publisher in the library listing; Wikipedia says only that Atari published a 7800 version in 1989.

How the Atari 7800 version differs

The 7800 cartridge is a conversion of Cosmi's helicopter combat simulator, which began on the Commodore 64 in 1985.

Worth knowing

  • From the 7800 manual. Game modes include flight school, arcade mode and reality mode.

Before you buy

Low risk. AtariAge rates the color-label cartridge Scarce, though the loose cart is among the cheaper late titles. The box and manual carry much of a complete copy's value and a sealed copy more. It is a one-player game with the Pro-Line two-button stick, catalogue number CX 7828, and a PAL release exists.
