INTV Corporation's remake of NFL Football, which finally lets one person play against the computer.

Super Pro Football is an updated NFL Football from INTV Corporation, released in 1986, credited to Realtime Associates and APh Technological Consulting. Computer Entertainer said it replaced Mattel's earlier Football with much more sophistication in play and graphics.

It supports one or two players, with nine skill levels, so you can play the computer or a friend. The reviewer also noted a mode in which the computer plays itself, though the plays go by too quickly to teach anything.

How it was made

Credited to Realtime Associates and APh Technological Consulting and published by INTV Corporation in 1986, as an updated version of NFL Football.

What the press said at the time

Computer Entertainer Vol. 5 No. 8November 1986Graphics ♦♦♦ · Play-Action ♦♦♦½

“If you enjoyed the original Mattel football, you'll really enjoy this "upgrade." And, if you never purchased the original version because you couldn't play by yourself, now you can finally enjoy the fun of the game.”

— Computer Entertainer, November 1986

“VIDEO GAME AWARDS OF EXCELLENCE GAME OF THE YEAR ... Intellivision: SUPER PRO FOOTBALL - INTV Corp”

— Computer Entertainer, January 1987

Computer Entertainer rated graphics first and play action second, from four symbols (excellent) to one (poor) — diamonds through early 1987, stars after — comparing each game only with other games for the same system.

How the Intellivision version differs

INTV Corp.'s remake does more than convert Mattel's original football game. The old cartridge was for two players only, and the remake lets one person play against the computer, with more control and more options, including nine skill levels.

Before you buy

INTV shipped no overlays, so any in the box are reprints. Unlike Mattel's NFL Football, this one needs only one player. The box and manual make up much of a complete copy's premium over a loose cart.
