The Neo Geo's arcade-style soccer at its best, with 48 national teams, and one of the cheaper carts to own.
Super Sidekicks 2 is the second game in SNK's Super Sidekicks series and the third soccer game on the MVS. It plays a simplified arcade game of soccer with three buttons, and you can pick from 48 national teams divided into six regions. Eikichi Kawasaki headed the project. The arcade version came in April 1994, and the Japanese AES cart followed in May 1994.
GameFan's July 1994 review called it an outstanding piece of software, a surprise from a soccer game. reviewers Marc Menier and Richard Homsy praised the AES version for improving on the first game in presentation, sound, replay value and gameplay, and counted it among the best soccer games on consoles.
What the press said at the time
| Electronic Gaming Monthly Issue 72 | July 1995 | AVG. RATING: 8.0 |
“Add in great voice, cool cinemas and awesome first person goal kicks, and you’ve got the best soccer game I have ever laid eyes on.”
“Here’s another great sports game from the guys at SNK. The control is dead-on with intense action. Soccer fans won't be disappointed. Listen to the crowd roar.”
Electronic Gaming Monthly's average rating is the mean of its Review Crew's scores, each given on a 1 to 10 scale "in relation to other titles available for the same system."

Med risk, but the Japanese cart is one of the cheapest in the library, so conversions are a small worry. The US cart sells for more than the Japanese one. A complete copy has the hard plastic case, artwork and manual, and is worth noticeably more than a loose cart. It also came out on Neo Geo CD.
