A fast, enjoyable update of the old arcade shooter, and an inexpensive European cart.

Super Space Invaders takes Taito's 1978 original and blends it with modern shooter features such as power-ups and scrolling. The Kremlin developed the Master System version and Domark published it in Europe on 24 June 1992. Mean Machines Sega said the mix works and called the result a highly enjoyable blast.

“An excellent shoot ’em up which is slightly marred by the fact that it doesn’t get tough enough on later screens.”

— Mean Machines, December 1991

“Spaceship shoot-’em-ups are sorely lacking on the Master System, and if blasting legions of space mutants appeal to you, this cart’s perfect.”

— Sega Master Force, October 1993

“The idea behind Super Space Invaders was to take the original coin-op and blend it with some of the modern trappings of shoot 'em ups - power ups and scrolling for example. It works too, and the resulting gome is a highly enjoyable blast.”

— Mean Machines Sega, December 1992

“Meaty sounds, super-simple controls, 12 levels (plus cattle-saving bonus sections) and simultaneous two-player all somehow make it a good buy.”

— Sega Master Force, November 1993

Before you buy

This is a European cartridge only. Loose it is cheap, below the middle of the European-only games, and a complete copy costs much more than a loose one. The look-alike risk is low. Check that the manual is there, since it is the part most often missing from a complete copy.
