About Tank Wars
Tank Wars is an action game played from a top down perspective on a single screen. It's a one on one game where the player controls a tank and has to defeat an AI controlled tank. Movement is possible in four directions and the tank will move forward until direction is changed. On the screen are trees, mines and a lake that act as obstacles in different ways. Trees stop the tank and can not be fired through while lakes only stops the tank but can still be fired over. Mines will blow up the tank if moved over. The player has five tanks and when they have all been destroyed the game ends.

A European Bit Corp. maze shooter that reached North America through Telegames in 1986, scarce and thinly documented.
Tank Wars is a maze shooter from Bit Corp., dated 1983 and sold in Europe. Telegames re-released the European cartridge in North America in 1986. That is nearly all that is documented: no period review of it has been found.
How it was made
Developed by Bit Corp. and sold in Europe in 1983; Telegames re-released it in North America in 1986.
Worth knowing
- From the ColecoVision manual. You fight with five of your own tanks against 20 enemy tanks in each scene, protecting your Radar Base.
Before you buy
No loose or boxed price is tracked. The collector museum rates the Bit Corp. original Extremely Rare and the Telegames pressing Very Rare, so a North American copy is most likely the later Telegames one. A Telegames copy is genuine but later, and owners report a high failure rate on Telegames carts, so test it. Ask for photos of the shell and label, and for the box if one is claimed.
