A mildly entertaining cartoon platformer, priced a little above the middle.

The Adventures of Rocky and Bullwinkle and Friends was developed by Imagineering and published on the Genesis by Absolute Entertainment, with music by Mark Van Hecke. Three artifacts are stolen from a museum, and seven levels take you from a Swiss Alps-style mountain through a cavern, a mine, a submarine, a haunted ship and a port town to a castle. It came out in North America in September 1993.

Electronic Games said it may not be quite the way you remember the characters. Reception of the Genesis version was mixed.

What the press said at the time

Electronic Gaming Monthly Issue 51October 19934

“Although it's a classic cartoon, it's certainly not a classic Genesis game.”

— GamePro, November 1993

“Double Ugh! This is an almost carbon-copy of the NES version, with the poor control intact! … The variety of games is nice, but the whole thing looks rushed.”

— Electronic Gaming Monthly, October 1993

Electronic Gaming Monthly's average rating is the mean of its Review Crew's scores, each given on a 1 to 10 scale "in relation to other titles available for the same system."

How the Sega Genesis version differs

The Genesis game has seven levels, and instead of bombs the heroes throw mooseberries and acorns. It shares this layout with the Super NES version.

The Genesis story has Rocky and Bullwinkle recovering three artifacts stolen from a museum, unlike the NES version where Bullwinkle collects money left by his ancestor.
