A serious chess engine on a handheld — and NOT a ComLynx game, whatever the lists say.

Telegames both developed and published it in 1991, during the licensed Atari era, built around Fidelity's chess engine — a genuine computer-chess name rather than a game studio.

It is routinely listed as ComLynx-compatible. It is not. Its two-player mode is two people sharing one console and alternating turns, which the period Lynx FAQ flags explicitly. Nobody needs a second Lynx and a second cartridge to play chess against a friend, and this is exactly the conflation that makes most published ComLynx lists unreliable.

Before you buy

Cheap and low-risk. Its complete-in-box price is under double loose, which is modest for this platform.
