The King Of Fighters: Battle De Paradise is a digital tabletop game released for the Neo Geo Pocket Color. It was released on June 6, 2000 by SNK in Japan. Based on The King of Fighters fighting game series by SNK, the story focuses on four characters created for this installment who are transferred into the game console and take on an adventure assisted by The King of Fighters characters and other SNK IPs. The game was re-released in 2022 as part of the Neo Geo Pocket Color Selection Vol. 2 compilation.

A King of Fighters board game, not the fighter the cover implies — and it hides a secret that needs hardware most owners no longer have.
Battle de Paradise takes the King of Fighters cast and puts them on a board with minigames attached. It is a party title, and the artwork catches people out constantly. Linked, the board turns player-versus-player instead of player-versus-AI, and it also talks to King of Fighters '99 Evolution on the Dreamcast.
The curiosity is a secret that runs backwards: put this Color cartridge into an original monochrome Neo Geo Pocket rather than a Color, and a hidden Yosaku minigame unlocks. It is the only reason a Color owner might want the older machine, and it is invisible if you only ever own the newer one.
Before you buy
Be clear about what you are buying: the KOF name and the cover art both promise a fighter and this is not one. It is on NEOGEO POCKET COLOR SELECTION Vol. 2, which is the cheap way to see it — though the Switch version cannot reproduce the monochrome-console secret.
