About Victory
Victory is a game which you control your Battlestar to destroy an alien force which has overrun your planet. This force has installed radar and quark silos on your planet and use their deadly armada to drop paratroopers to the surface to release the quarks. All is not lost however as your Battlestar is equipped capable lasers and shields as well as the “Doomsday Device”. This game was released by Exidy in 1982 and programmed by Vic Tolomei. Your controls are a spinner and 4 lighted buttons (Thrust, Fire, Shield and Doomsday). The hardware for this game is impressive for its time, containing multiple processors and speech/audio chips which add very much to the game experience. Later, there was an upgrade kit that was sold to convert Victory games to a game called “Victor Banana”, changing the in-game graphics to match a more comical theme.

Victory on Wikipedia
Victory is a 1982 arcade video game by Exidy. It was later ported to the ColecoVision. Victory was the only contemporary game on the ColecoVision along with Omega Race to natively support the Roller Controller, a trackball controller. To renew interest in the game, Exidy released a conversion kit for the arcade version that turned the game into Victory Banana, a new space game with identical gameplay and a modified, more humorous theme behind the graphics.

A well-reviewed Exidy port, and one of the games built for the Roller Controller.
Nuvatec developed the ColecoVision port, which Coleco published in October 1983 from Exidy's 1982 arcade game. When Computer Entertainer received a pre-production Roller Controller in late 1983, it named Victory and Omega Race as the two games for the trackball besides Slither, which came packed with it.
Wikipedia notes that Videogaming Illustrated gave it an A and compared it to Odyssey's UFO and the arcade Defender. It is a multidirectional shooter.
What the press said at the time
| Computer Entertainer Vol. 2 No. 9 | December 1983 | Graphics ★★ · Play-Action ★★½ |
“Whether or not the original instruction booklet is correct, the game as we played it is very dull.”
Computer Entertainer rated graphics first and play action second, from four symbols (excellent) to one (poor) — diamonds through early 1987, stars after — comparing each game only with other games for the same system.
How the ColecoVision version differs
Victory was one of only two contemporary ColecoVision games, with Omega Race, to natively support the Roller Controller trackball.
The ColecoVision port was released in October 1983, after the February 1982 arcade game.

Worth knowing
- From the ColecoVision manual. You have only four Doomsday Devices and four Shields, so they should be saved for the right moment.
- From the ColecoVision manual. At 35,000 points you earn a Bonus Battlestar, one Doomsday Device, one Shield and 1600 points.
- From the ColecoVision manual. Ranks advance from Cadet to Flier, Squadron Leader, Wing Commander and finally Ace, at which point each invisible Quark is worth more points.
Before you buy
Programmed for the Roller Controller, the trackball packed with Slither, so a copy is best with that controller. The controller was often separated from its game, and Slither is cheap loose for that reason. The box and manual carry much of a complete copy's value.
