About World Series Major League Baseball
World Series Major League Baseball is a baseball sports game that supports both ECS and Intellivoice (for play by play announcements). The game is based on real baseball player statistics (even though the names had been changed to fictional ones before the release) and offers baseball games using multiple cameras (including in-game split-screen), showing the game in a 3D display rather than side-scrolling fashion.

World Series Major League Baseball on Wikipedia
Intellivision World Series Major League Baseball is a baseball video game (1983) designed by Don Daglow and Eddie Dombrower, and published by Mattel for the Intellivision Entertainment Computer System. IWSB was one of the first sports video games to use multiple camera angles and present a three-dimensional perspective. It was also the first statistics-based baseball simulation game on a video game console; all prior console baseball games were arcade-style recreations of the sport.

Mattel's ambitious baseball management game, and one of the harder complete sets to assemble.
World Series Major League Baseball was designed by Don Daglow and Eddie Dombrower and published by Mattel in 1983. It is described as the first sports simulation and management video game, showing the batter and pitcher from a center-field camera, like a television broadcast.
It needs the Entertainment Computer System and can use Intellivoice speech. Video Games Player noted in late 1983 that the ECS lets you program a matchup such as Fernando Valenzuela against Babe Ruth.
What the press said at the time
“Owing to its spectator, rather than player, orientation, this game is a delight to watch, but hell to play. … Nonetheless, WSMLB is a treat, if a somewhat antiquated one. Dombrower's reach exceeded his grasp, but the result was an interesting, different game.”
Worth knowing
- From the Intellivision manual. Play-by-play announcing works only when the optional Intellivoice module is attached; the game itself plays without it.
- From the Intellivision manual. The manual tells you to insert the cartridge in the Computer Module cartridge slot, not the plain console slot.
- From the Intellivision manual. The title screen offers a computer-versus-computer demo so you can watch a full nine-inning game before playing yourself.
Before you buy
Requires the ECS, and Intellivoice is optional for speech. Mattel shipped two overlays. A copy sold as Super Series Big League Baseball is listed separately and costs far more complete. The cartridge is expensive, and the box and manual add much more.
