An adult maze game from a one-cartridge publisher, collected for notoriety and scarcity rather than play.
X-Man is a pornographic 1983 cartridge and the only title Universal Gamex is known to have made. Alan Roberts designed it and H.K. Poon programmed it. You steer a naked man through a labyrinth to a door at its center, avoiding scissors, crabs and teeth, and clearing the maze leads to an explicit bonus screen. It has nothing to do with Marvel's X-Men.
Women's groups protested it on release. Most retailers refused to stock it, and those that did often kept it under the counter or sold it only to buyers 18 and over. It was also sold by mail order through magazine ads, including a full-page ad in the July 1983 Videogaming Illustrated.
How it was made
Designed by Alan Roberts and programmed by H.K. Poon for Universal Gamex, released in June 1983.

Before you buy
Medium risk. No reproductions or sold-as-original fakes are documented; the concern is the value. Compare the Universal Gamex label and shell against AtariAge's scans, check for die-cut rounded label corners, and ask for a photo of the board through the dust door. The box and manual carry much of a complete copy's value, so confirm both are present and original.
