About Batman Beyond: Return of the Joker
Batman Beyond: Return of the Joker (also known as Batman of the Future: Return of the Joker in Europe and Australia) is a 2000 American direct-to-video animated film featuring the comic book superhero Batman and his archenemy, the Joker. It is set in the continuity of the animated series Batman Beyond, in which Bruce Wayne has retired from crime fighting, giving the mantle of Batman to high school student Terry McGinnis, and serves as a sequel to both Batman: The Animated Series and The New Batman Adventures. As in the TV series, Will Friedle and Kevin Conroy star as Terry McGinnis and Bruce Wayne, respectively. Mark Hamill, who played the Joker opposite Conroy in Batman: The Animated Series and The New Batman Adventures, reprises his role.

Batman Beyond: Return of the Joker on Wikipedia
Batman Beyond: Return of the Joker, known as Batman of the Future: Return of the Joker in Europe, is a scrolling beat 'em up video game developed by Kemco and released by Ubi Soft for the Game Boy Color, PlayStation and Nintendo 64 in 2000 and 2001. The game is based on the animated film of the same name, which in turn was based on the TV series Batman Beyond. Players act as the new Batman Terry McGinnis, who takes over the position of the retired Bruce Wayne and fights against the Jokerz gang led by the recently revived Joker. Throughout the game, Batman fights the villain's cronies, who steal tech components from various laboratories and corporations in Gotham City. Joker uses them to take control of a missile-shooting satellite, which he plans to destroy the entire city with.

A scrolling beat-'em-up that reviewers savaged, yet one of the pricier carts of its year.
Batman Beyond: Return of the Joker is the Nintendo 64 version of Kemco's side-scrolling brawler based on the animated film, published by Ubi Soft. It reached North America on December 13, 2000, with the PAL release two days later under the title Batman of the Future: Return of the Joker. You play the new Batman, Terry McGinnis, and can switch between four suits, three of them available from the start.
Reviews of the N64 version were overwhelmingly negative, and it can be beaten in a few hours. GameFan's December 2000 review said it looked like a first-generation N64 title, with flat shading and low-polygon models, and that anyone but fans of the show should avoid it.
How it was made
Developed by Kemco and published by Ubi Soft; Kemco first showed the Nintendo 64, PlayStation and Game Boy versions at E3 2000.

Before you buy
This sits well above the library median for a loose cart, and games released in 2000 generally cost more than earlier ones. Fake risk is low by the research tiers. The PAL release, sold as Batman of the Future, costs more than the US one, loose and especially complete, so the European copy is not the bargain. Complete copies sell for several times the loose price.
