A movie tie-in brawler that is one of the cheaper US carts.

This is the Genesis version of Batman Forever, the beat 'em up based on the 1995 film, developed by Probe Entertainment and published by Acclaim. North America and Europe got it on 7 September 1995. It is a different game from Batman Forever: The Arcade Game, and its Genesis and SNES versions are very similar, while the Game Boy and Game Gear versions strip out most of the puzzle-solving.

At a 1995 trade show, Sega Pro said the Genesis version looked surprisingly good, with quite detailed sprites and cool animations.

What the press said at the time

“This game sorely lacks the film's death-defying thrills. It fails to deliver enough bang for the big bucks that it costs.”
— GamePro, December 1995

Before you buy

Among US carts it sits below the middle, so it is cheap to buy. The European cart usually costs more than the US one, and a complete European copy costs a good deal more. The Japanese cart usually costs several times as much as the US one and has a different cartridge shape. Sega Retro lists it as using the six-button pad and its Mode button.
