An Out Run in name only: a cop-style car-ramming chase that is closer to Chase H.Q., and a perfectly decent European cart.
Battle Out Run was released by Sega in Europe in 1989, with Arc System Works credited alongside Sega as developer. Despite the Out Run name it plays little like the original and more like Chase H.Q.: your job is to ram the cars of specified criminals. The twist is that a truck passes at certain moments, and you drive into its rear to buy upgrades for your car.
Mean Machines Sega called it quite a good little game in its first issue, marking it down only for a lack of challenge, and judged Chase H.Q. the better pick if bumping people off the road is your thing.

Before you buy
