A baseball sim that is one of the cheapest US carts, with a battery save.
Hardball '94, the fourth game in Accolade's HardBall series, was developed by MindSpan and came out for the Genesis in North America in June 1994 and Europe on 15 July 1994. It was published by Accolade.
Mean Machines Sega thought it a bit irrelevant for British players, with clever batting animation and poor outfield graphics, but good enough for its American target audience. Electronic Games placed it second in its Genesis top games chart in autumn 1994.
What the press said at the time
| MegaTech Issue 33 | September 1994 | 74% |
| MegaTech Issue 34 | October 1994 | 74% |
“A decent baseball game that for some reason doesn't seem to be as good as the others in the series.”

How the Sega Genesis version differs
The game appeared on the Sega Genesis as HardBall '94 first, and on DOS later.
Mean Machines found it a bit irrelevant for British players, praising the rendered batting animation but not the poor outfield graphics.
Electronic Games ranked HardBall '94 second in its Top Genesis Games list in 1994.

MS-DOS · Atari Jaguar
- MS-DOS. Next Generation rated the PC version four stars out of five.
- Atari Jaguar. An Atari Jaguar port by High Voltage Software was in development but never released.
Before you buy
Among US carts this is one of the cheapest. The page lists a save battery that matters in some modes, so check that a save holds; a replaced battery is a normal repair, not a sign of a fake. The European cart usually costs a good deal more than the US one. A complete US copy means the case, cartridge and manual.
