An arcade-style Genesis soccer game that was an easy cheap pickup, with multitap support for bigger matches.
On the Genesis this is Fever Pitch Soccer, which North America knew as Head-On Soccer. U.S. Gold developed and published it for the Genesis, with North America in 1995 and Europe on 30 June 1995. SNES and Jaguar versions followed; this page is about the Genesis cartridge.
Sega Pro described the Mega Drive game in 1995 as having players with cartoon equivalents and a diagonal viewpoint, much like FIFA, and said it looked great and played even better. The game lets you upgrade your players' abilities after winning matches. Sega Retro lists it as working with Sega's Team Player.

“Thankfully, Fever Pitch gets it right where that game, and many others have failed.”
“The control is good, and the Genesis game seems to play a little faster than the SNES version. If you aren't looking for stats and standings on the real international teams”

How the Sega Genesis version differs
Known as Head-On Soccer in North America, the Genesis game is the original version of this U.S. Gold soccer title, and the other versions followed it.
The Genesis version supports multitap accessories for more than two players; the Jaguar port does not.
Critics received the Genesis release generally positively, praising its graphics, sound, gameplay and the ability to upgrade team players after wins.

- Atari Jaguar. The Jaguar port came in December 1995; it was criticized for not using the hardware but was well received and counted by some reviewers among the system's better titles.

Before you buy
Among US carts it sits a little below the middle. The European cart usually costs less than the US one. A cardboard-box edition is priced separately from the plastic-case copy. If you plan on more than two players, remember that Sega Retro lists support for the Team Player, which is not interchangeable with EA's 4 Way Play.
